In our intensive 12 day course, you will become a super professional and be ready for the final exams of the Open Water Instructor.
Our SSI Open Water Instructor program is a two-week course. It provides you with the skills and knowledge necessary for functioning as an instructor in confined water/open water sessions/theory classes. Once you complete your ITC in about 12 days and have reached a competent level, you will have a 2-3 day exam in which you will be evaluated on all aspects taught during the course.

We have a high level of training with excellent facilities for teaching all professional levels.
- +18 years old
- Have logged a minimum of 100 open water dives, with a total dive time of 65 hours or more.
Note: the standards require a minimum of 75 logged dives to begin the course and 100 to complete it. During the course with us, fewer than 25 open water dives are completed, so you need to have logged at least 100 dives to obtain the certification. - Hold the following active SSI certifications or equivalents issued by a recognized diving training agency: Assistant Instructor.
- Be an Open Water Diver or higher for at least six (6) months before starting the instructor evaluation.
Throughout all water training, as a diving professional, you must be equipped with a properly fitted Total Diving System.
As a professional, you must be equipped with at least all the student equipment (mask, snorkel, fins, buoyancy compensator with mechanical inflator, weighting system, air supply system with tank, primary regulator and alternate air source, dive computer, wetsuit suitable for the environment), in addition to:
- A Surface Marker Buoy (SMB)
- An emergency signaling device on the surface
- A cutting tool
- A compass
Candidates of the Diving Professional programs must use a professional-level Total Diving System.
The training during this course takes place in Playa Flamingo, which is very convenient for practicing diving skills.

The course consists of two parts – the training for OW Instructor (ITC) and then the evaluation (IE).
The ITC is 12 days long and the IE is 2 days.
Ideally, you should already have your own equipment since your Divemaster course. If you are missing any part of the equipment, we can help you here (depending on size availability, etc.), as we have a dive shop.
Professional courses require dedication when it comes to learning—there is a lot of material to cover, and we facilitate this learning, but we need you to come to your courses prepared. When you enroll in the courses, you will receive a link with access to the courses, and that will be the time to start preparing!

Upon successfully completing the Open Water Instructor evaluation, you will receive the following SSI certifications:
- Open Water Instructor (you can teach, supervise, and issue certifications for all certification configurations of the Open Water Diver course)

- Specialty Instructor Enriched Air Nitrox
We are proud to have two Instructor Trainers on our team, Sebastian Ceriani and Raúl Anaya, who together have issued more than 1,300 certifications and have 12 years of combined experience. They are supported by two Assistant Instructor Trainers and a team made up mainly of instructors, all trained according to the Viva Blue philosophy.
